Professional course for psychologists on working with LGBTQ+ clients
Everything that takes place within the therapeutic session is confidential and will not be shared outside the session on my part, except when consulting with a supervisor regarding your case. In the supervision process, no identifying or personal client information is disclosed.
Clients are also encouraged to respect confidentiality in order to maintain the integrity of the therapeutic process. At the same time, you are free to share your own experience of therapy at your discretion.Confidentiality also applies outside the therapy setting. If we happen to meet in a public place, I will not initiate contact. You may choose to greet me or not — both options are entirely acceptable.
You are welcome to follow my public professional accounts on social media and, if you wish, leave reviews or recommendations. I do not interact with clients’ personal social media accounts, comment on their posts, or engage in public online communication.
If you are under the age of 18, written consent from a parent or legal guardian is required prior to starting therapy. When working with minors, the core principles of confidentiality are upheld: I do not disclose the content of sessions to legal guardians, except for general recommendations or in situations that require the involvement of other professionals or a change in the format of support.
Confidentiality may be breached only in cases where there is a real and immediate risk to the life or safety of the client or other individuals.
Safety is a foundational condition of therapeutic work. I am committed to creating a space that allows you to explore difficult topics at your own pace and with respect for your personal boundaries.
If anything that arises during a session causes discomfort, tension, or feels difficult to talk about, this can — and should — be brought into the conversation.
You have the right to pause or stop any intervention, to say that you are not ready to address a particular topic, or to decline answering specific questions.
Therapy does not involve coercion, pressure, or “breakthroughs at any cost.” We move at a pace and depth that are safe, manageable, and appropriate for you.
There are circumstances in which full therapeutic work may not be possible or may require additional support from other professionals:
• Psychotherapy is not conducted during active substance use (including alcohol, psychoactive substances, or uncontrolled use of medication).
• In cases of acute psychotic states or a high risk to life, urgent psychiatric care or work within a multidisciplinary team may be recommended.
• When suicidal intent or a high level of risk is present, client safety becomes the primary priority, and we work together to identify the most appropriate form of support.
When needed, I may recommend or involve professionals from related fields, including psychiatrists, medical doctors, crisis services, and social support services.Safety in therapy is something we create together. I take responsibility for professional boundaries, ethics, and the quality of the process, while you are invited to be honest about your current state, capacities, and limits.
The setting refers to the framework of therapeutic work. These agreements are established, clarified, and respected in order to maintain the effectiveness and safety of the therapeutic process. The setting includes payment terms, cancellation and rescheduling policies, the beginning and ending of therapy, and guidelines for communication outside of sessions.
Initial Session
The first session is scheduled upon full prepayment, which must be made no later than 48 hours before the planned appointment. The prepayment for the first session is non-refundable, including in cases of non-attendance.
The first session is introductory. We get to know each other, clarify your concerns and goals, and, if needed, I may conduct additional assessment and recommend consultation with a medical professional (psychiatrist, neurologist, or endocrinologist).
If you are already working with a psychiatrist, coordination of treatment strategies may require exchanging contact information with your doctor.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
For ongoing work, sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled without charge if notice is given at least 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed sessions without prior notice are charged at the full session fee.
Session Duration
Individual sessions: 50 minutes
Couple or family sessions: 90 minutes
If a client arrives late, the session duration is shortened accordingly.
Prepayment for multiple sessions (e.g., 5, 10, or 15 sessions) is possible. The same policies apply to prepaid sessions as to single-session payments.
Substance Use and Safety
Sessions may not be attended under the influence of psychoactive substances, except for medication prescribed by a doctor. In such cases, I reserve the right to cancel the session in order to maintain safety.
At the same time, you may rely on the principle of confidentiality if you wish to discuss your experiences related to substance use during therapy.
Format and Frequency
Sessions are conducted online via Zoom. The usual frequency of sessions is once per week. Whenever possible, it is helpful to establish a consistent, ongoing time. In cases of acute distress or crisis, the frequency may increase to twice per week.
If you decide to end therapy or counseling for any reason, I will suggest a final session to reflect on our work together.
My Responsibilities
• I provide advance notice of any session cancellations or rescheduling on my part. If I miss a scheduled session without prior notice, the next session is free of charge.
• If I am late, the session duration is extended accordingly.
• I inform clients in advance about planned vacations, business travel, or other absences. You will not be left without support unexpectedly. When needed, I can provide crisis contacts or colleague referrals during my absence.
• I do not engage in therapeutic communication outside of sessions, except for organizational matters. If urgent support is needed, I may offer an additional session or provide contacts for trusted crisis services.
• The primary form of communication outside sessions is written. I respond to messages during working hours (Monday–Friday, 10:00–19:00) and do not take phone calls.
Parallel Therapy
Individual psychotherapy cannot be conducted simultaneously with work with another individual therapist. It may, however, be combined with couple or family therapy, group therapy, or psychiatric treatment.
If necessary, I may recommend a colleague for work on a specific concern. In such cases, our work may be paused until the completion of the other therapeutic process.
The therapeutic relationship requires the absence of dual roles and overlapping contexts. This means that within the therapeutic process I cannot engage with you in friendly, romantic, or commercial relationships, accept invitations for coffee, use your professional services, or maintain any contact outside of therapy.
I also do not work with relatives or close associates of my clients, except in the context of couple or family therapy. When needed, I can recommend colleagues who specialize in the relevant areas.
These boundaries are an ethical standard and are essential for maintaining safety, clarity of roles, and the quality of the therapeutic process.
